One of the best reasons to attend Summer Reunion is the opportunity to renew connections with classmates and with the College. This June, nearly 400 alumni and friends set foot back on campus to reminisce about their experiences as students and celebrate how far they had come in life. Special reunion classes celebrating were FD 1948, 1938, 1943, 1948, 1953, 1958, 1963, 1968, 1973, 1978, and 1983.
The Office of Gift Planning kicked off the weekend with a wonderful reception to induct alumni and friends into the Great Commitments Society. Following the reception, alumni and guests attended a special event to honor Dr. Warren E. Bulman, ’48, with a Distinguished Alumnus Award. During this special event, President Roelofs delighted the audience with a physics lesson to explain the revolutionary Hall-effect device that Dr. Bulman helped develop and market in the US. After the event, everyone headed to the campus quad for a picnic and to enjoy time together. Saturday began with 1963 alumni and guests gathering at the President and First Lady Roelofs’ home to celebrate their 50th reunion, college sweethearts meeting for breakfast at Boone Tavern, and classes gathering for class photos. At noon, special reunion classes gathered in their class lounges to have lunch, reminisce, honor those who had passed, and celebrate their time together.
That afternoon, President and First Lady Roelofs welcomed alumni into their home, and then alumni classes scattered across Berea to spend their remaining reunion hours with one another before heading home. Many alumni stayed through Sunday, attending service at Union Church. It was a joyous weekend and a great way to renew connections.
