Leona Braswell Moldenhauer celebrated her 100th birthday in March 2013. She treasures the years she attended Berea College. She resides in Crossnore, NC.
1943
Susan Nickell Carothers resides in Perry, OK, in the formally historic Perry Masonic Lodge building built in 1925. She still remains in good health and would enjoy hearing from Berea friends.
1945
Jennie Westlake Findley, a retired educator from Flemington, WV, still stays in close contact via Round Robin Letters. It began with Margaret Callison Baker, Ellen Hillman West,’44, Margaret Jessup Kauffman, Kathleen Mieras Wright, Cx’45, Helen Monson Luce, Lillian Salisbury Clifton (deceased), Hazel Sewell Martin (deceased), Dr. Louise Young Gossett. Over the years others joined including: Carolyn Keener Howard, Ella Beth Morgan Griffin, Virginia Ott Gunnoe, Cx’45 (deceased), and Naomi Chafin Okuma (deceased). They consider themselves richly blessed to have maintained this relationship for 68 years, and they look forward to Berea reunions with great anticipation and reminisce over the letters written over the years.

Jack and Juanita Noland Coldiron reside in Lake Junaluska, NC, which is celebrating 100 years since its beginning. Jack had heart surgery one year ago, and is back to golf and gardening.
Annie Sue O’Daniel Teeter lives in a retirement home in Gastonia, NC.
1948
Albert L. Richardson, retired geologist, self-published a memoir entitled “Hill Country Young’un” about growing up on a poor hill farm in WV, through service in World War II and going to Berea on a GI bill. Albert resides in Bradenton, FL.
1953
Jean Hurt Williams is enjoying her retirement from nursing and is spending time with family, friends and counting her blessings every day. She is blessed with two children, one grandson and one great-grandson. She resides in Lawrenceburg, KY.
1954
Randall C. Day, Jr., is a postmaster with the U.S. Postal Service and his wife, Frances Austin Day, ’53, has taught elementary school for 40 years in the Letcher County school system. They have two sons, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. They reside in Whitesburg, KY.
1956
Dr. Darrell Crase retired in 2004, and his wife, Dr. Dixie Crase, recently retired after 45 years teaching development. They moved to Nashville, TN, to be near their daughter.
1957
Ellen (Penny) Harvey Showell lives in Greenspring Retirement Community in Springfield, VA. She writes about art, nature, and theater for the village newsletter and writes haiku. Her book, “The Ghost of Tillie Jean Cassaway,” is available at iUniverse.com.

Dr. Harold Branam and his wife, Sandy Conover Branam, Cx’60, represented at the Southeastern Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) on the Corporation of American Friends Service Committee. They reside in Savannah, GA.
1961
Truman and Joyce Barnes Fields met at Stonewall Jackson Park in WV, with 15 Berea graduates and their spouses from the classes of ’61,’62, and’63 in September 2013 for a mini-reunion. Most of the male alums lived in Dana IV and have kept in touch over the years. Lively discussion included how each came to Berea and their first dates with their spouses. All attendees decided that they must get together more often. Janis Eckler Fox shared that she shall always be grateful for the opportunities Berea College gave to her and to her two younger brothers, Charles M. Eckler, ’66, and John Richey Eckler, ’69. She resides in Frankfort, KY.
1964
David Winston Harris received his certificate in pastoral ministry from the Cape Town Baptist Seminary in Cape Town, South Africa, on November 2013, and was the only U.S. student in his class where he proudly promoted Berea College to students and faculty. He and his wife, Barbara, reside in Jonesville, VA.
Marlene Ann Shaw earned a MS in health education and a MS in nursing from the University of New Mexico. She and her husband, Dale, are retired and reside in Albuquerque, NM.
1967
Charles E. “Chuck” Morgan announced that his son, John “J.” Hunter Morgan,’91, has joined the staff at Berea College in Marketing and Communications as the Publications and Project Manager and his other son, Charles “Chuck” Morgan,’94, is employed with White House Clinic in Berea, KY. He and his wife, Chyrl “Jean” Burgett, ’67, reside in Berea, KY.
1969
Ernest J. Brinegar, Fd ’65, ‘69, is the senior direct business representative at iPay Technologies, a software provider to banks and credit vendors. He is retired from Schott Glaswerke. He and his wife, Sherry, reside in Elizabethtown, KY.
Paul David Taulbee has been making living history presentations as Major General Cassius Marcellus Clay, who was instrumental in the founding of the College. He resides in Viper, KY.
1971
Dr. Lonnie R. Helton retired on July 1, 2013 as interim director at the Cleveland School of Social Work. His latest book was published in 2013 titled “Social Work Intervention With Diverse Families: Applications of the 4-R Model.” He resides in Valley City, OH.
1975
Rose Weaver was presented the prestigious Women In NAACP Bridge of Honor Award at the 67th Annual State Convention & Civil Rights Conference in Oak Ridge, TN. She has served on the executive committee as secretary, Freedom Fund chairperson and as state NAACP youth coordinator. She provides opportunities and resources to startup businesses trying to secure contracts in the federal and private sector through her management consulting firm. She resides in Oak Ridge, TN.
1979
Sandra Bowling retired on May 29, 2013 as an Austin Elementary title one teacher of grades four and five with 34 years of teaching experience. She resides in Austin, IN.
Dr. Anthony C. Hackney was a recipient of the University of Santiago (Chile) Medal of Distinction for 2013. He received this award for his work in Chile as well as throughout Latin America due to his research work and public advocacy concerning the health benefits associated with leading a physically active lifestyle. His research focused on how physical activity brings about positive changes in the endocrine system as associated with stress and disease. He is also being awarded an honorary professorship of medical sciences in the faculty of medicine at the University. The Medal of Distinction is the highest honor awarded by the University of Santiago. He and his wife, Rev. Grace Griffith Hackney,’78, reside in Bahama, NC.
Kenneth Hembree, Cx’79, has two daughters, Michelle Lee and Rebecca Sue, and has three beautiful granddaughters named Hannah, Hailey and Isabella. Kenneth and his wife, Gearl, reside in Berea, KY.

Janet M. Wozniak has been teaching ceramics, drawing I, II, art I to 9 – 12th graders for the past 28 years at Tates Creek High School in Lexington, KY. She resides in Lexington, KY.
1982
Wade Biddix is employed with United States Department of Agriculture—Natural Resources Conservation Service as an assistant state conservationist. He completed his masters of public administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. His wife, Joanne, is a RN─wound care specialist, at Colonia Heights Convalescent Center. They reside in Richmond, VA.
1985
Kimberly Taylor Goodlett teaches at the School for Creative and Performing Arts. She earned her master’s degree from the University of Kentucky. Two of her former students and her niece were accepted into Berea College this year. She resides in West Chester, OH.
1990
Julie Ramey Bush retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as project manager. She started a family business called Garden Gate Greenhouse with her husband in 2001 to replace lost income from burley tobacco. She celebrated her 23rd wedding anniversary on October 6, 2013. Her daughter, Katie, graduated from high school in May 2013, and is attending Morehead State University. They reside in Grayson, KY.
Samuel Scott Sanderson recently finished his M.A. in geography from University of South Florida. In 1998, he completed a M.A. in religion from Louisville Seminary. He is interested in studying the relationship between geography and religion. He currently resides in Tampa, FL.

Dr. E. Dustin Owens graduated with a doctorate of public administration from Valdosta State University in July of 2012. His dissertation was entitled “The Understanding and Perceptions of Local Government: A Study of Position in Society, Municipality Size, and Gender.” Currently, he works as a finance officer for the city of Nashville, TN, where he resides.

David Dooley received his master’s in public administration from Kentucky State University with a human resources emphasis. He is the Human Resources Director at KY Public Service Commission. His wife, Latonia Ison Dooley,’99, received her master’s in public administration from Kentucky State University. She is employed as a research consultant of the Revenue Tax Policy with Kentucky Department of Revenue. They reside with their two children, Anna and Lincoln, in Frankfort, KY.
Polly LeAnn Campbell Duncan is a social worker with the state of Tennessee and is president of the board of directors for branches of Monroe County. She received her master’s of arts in education. She married, William A. Duncan, programmer and developer with Tennessee Valley Authority on December 14, 2013. They reside in Maryville, TN.

Don Hodges and Jennifer Long Hodges RN, M.S.N.,’09, have relocated to the Cincinnati area. He is currently director of IT for the University Of Cincinnati College Of Allied Health Sciences and she is a pediatric nurse at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. She also completed her M.S.N. in April 2013. They reside in Harrison, OH, with their children, Emily and Nick.

Married: Dr. Andrew J. Wagers to Kari Hyatt on January 1, 2005. He completed his M.S. in physics from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2005 and a Ph.D. in physics from Texas A & M University in 2012. They have a son, Dillon James Agers, who was born in April 2006. He is employed with Cedarville University in OH as assistant professor of physics. They reside in Jamestown, OH.

Kirk Amick accepted the chief credit officer and senior vice president position with Albina Community Bank in Portland, OR. He and his wife, Courtney Springer Amick,’04, reside in Scappoose, OR, with their three children.
Todd Caudill and Johnna McNew Caudill,’05 enjoyed watching their five-year-old daughter, Claire Caudill, crown Berea College’s Homecoming King and Queen at Homecoming 2013. They welcomed their new daughter, Haley Sofia Caudill, on November 7, 2013. They reside in Berea, KY.
Erin Comerford Croop was honored with the Joe Curley Rising Leader Award from the Florida Public Relations Association in August 2013.
Birth: a son, Embry Thomas Croop, was born to Erin Comerford Croop and Ethan Croop on July 3, 2013. Embry and Ethan share the same initials and the same birthday. They reside in Cape Coral, FL.
Justin K. Nichols was hired as a graduate faculty member in sport leadership at University of Kentucky. He resides in Lexington, KY.

Heather Barton Evans, assistant professor at Sam Houston State University, published a book on October 31, 2013, titled “Competitive Elections and Democracy in America: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.” She and her husband, Patrick, reside in Spring, TX.
Married: Lynn Patterson Klett to Nick Klett on August 31, 2013. She is a graduate student at Duke University. She and her husband reside in Browns Summit, NC.

Birth: a son, Caleb Powell Webb, was born to Darryl Matthew Webb and Savannah Webb on October 29, 2013. They reside in Columbia, TN.

Jacob Jennings was promoted to advertising manager of Laurel Grocery Company in March 2013. He married Emily Jennings on June 2, 2012. They reside in Berea, KY.

Amber Meadows-Dillard and Kelvin Dillard, Jr., were married on October 18, 2013. She is a care transitions coach at Atlanta Regional Commission and he is employed with Emory Healthcare. They reside in Marietta, GA.
2009
Married: Kimberly Osee Russell Collins to Case Collins on March 11, 2011. She is a case manager and BHSN pharmacy assistant at Helen Ross McNabb Center. They reside in Knoxville, TN.
Jennifer Long Hodges RN, MSN, and Don Hodges,’00, have relocated to the Cincinnati area. She completed her Master of Science in nursing in April 2013. He is currently director of IT for the University Of Cincinnati College Of Allied Health Sciences and she is a pediatric nurse at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Katie E. Bell has been accepted into Western Carolina University’s graduate program in public history, beginning spring 2014. She thanks Berea for providing a firm foundation from which to spring into this next chapter of her studies. She resides in Lynchburg, OH.
Ashley LePage recently received a promotion as director of the Dementia Unit at Regency Nursing and Rehab in Chicago, IL. She looks forward to leading a team and bringing art therapy to older adults experiencing dementia. She resides in Chicago, IL.
Married: Jayme Spaugh Miller to James Miller,’06, on December 19, 2009. They have two children, a daughter, Hannah Miller, born on May 14, 2011, and a son, Micah, born December 29, 2012. They reside in Berea, KY.
2011
Molly Baker Halstead accepted the position of curator and art gallery manager at Tamarack: David L. Dickirson Gallery in Beckley, WV. The Gallery showcases the juried work of over 500 WV artists. She reminisced recently, “I wouldn’t have gotten very far without the experience and support of Berea; I think of Berea often and the excellent support and advice I have gotten, not only during my undergrad career, but also after. I’m certainly still a Berea Proud Grad!”
